The Cost Lens.

Model a healthcare object-storage estate on the two axes you actually move, data stored and monthly egress, against current list pricing from AWS, Azure and Google Cloud, and watch egress do the damage.

Start from
200 TB

Imaging estates often run from tens of TB into the petabytes.

40 TB

Every study retrieved, replicated or reported across regions moves data out.

Monthly cost at 200 TB · 40 TB egress

AWS$10,703/mo
Microsoft Azure$10,193/mo
Google Cloud$14,042/mo
3verest$8,200/mo

How this is calculated

Hyperscaler figures use published list pricing for object storage (S3 Standard, Blob Hot, GCS Standard) with tiered egress per region, a 5% monthly retrieval assumption, and an operational overhead allowance of 15 to 22% by estate size. 3verest uses the DICOM Object Archive rate of $41/TB, with egress and retrieval included, no meter.

For indicative comparison, not a quote. Actual cost depends on negotiated discounts and workload specifics. Rates effective 5 Jun 2026.
