Sustainability at 3verest

Choose credible partners. Reduce what we use. Report what we know.

3verest delivers sovereign cloud infrastructure for healthcare across Australia, the United Kingdom, North America and the EU. Our position rests on three commitments we can stand behind inside a procurement process, not only on a webpage: choose the most credible infrastructure partners available, reduce what we and our customers consume, and report — with dates and numbers — on what we know and what we don’t yet.

Our footprint, owned

The numbers we’re accountable for

Most of a cloud’s environmental performance is inherited from where it runs. We’re direct about which figures are ours and which belong to our partners — and we’d rather show a conservative number we can defend than a flattering one we can’t.

1.39

The estate we run on — Equinix global PUE in 2025. Most on-prem server rooms sit well above this.

Near-zero

Our direct (Scope 1) emissions — we operate no owned data centres and no vehicle fleet.

96%

Equinix electricity matched to renewables in 2025 (global), over 90% every year since 2018. Site-specific attestation on request.

2026

The year we establish our first measured 3verest Scope 1 & 2 baseline, rather than reciting our partners’ figures as our own.

Where Our Cloud Runs

3verest operates inside the Equinix global IBX data centre estate. Equinix is one of the most environmentally credentialled data centre operators in the world, and their certifications form the foundation of our service delivery.

In 2025, the Equinix estate that hosts our customers achieved:

  • 96% renewable electricity coverage globally, and over 90% every year since 2018
  • ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 50001 (Energy Management) across all UK and EU data centres, independently audited by LRQA
  • Global PUE of 1.39, with significant ongoing investment in efficiency upgrades
  • EcoVadis Gold Medal, placing the estate in the top 5% of companies assessed globally
  • Science-based net-zero target by 2040

For any customer hosted on 3verest, we can request a site-specific Equinix Green Power Report confirming the renewable energy attestation for the exact facility their services run from, along with the relevant ISO certifications.

What 3verest Contributes Directly

Workload Consolidation

Moving healthcare workloads out of on-premises server rooms into a high-density, professionally cooled estate is the single largest sustainability lever most of our customers have. Independent analyses of this kind of move commonly show 30–50% less energy per workload, driven by higher utilisation and lower PUE. We will publish our own measured figure once our 2026 baseline is complete.

Responsible Hardware Lifecycle

Our infrastructure is built on Dell and NetApp hardware, both of which operate certified take-back, refurbishment and recycling programmes. We extend equipment life wherever performance allows and decommission through verified channels.

Localised Data Residency

Keeping data in-country reduces unnecessary cross-border transmission, a sovereignty benefit that also lowers the network energy footprint of healthcare workflows. The efficient choice and the compliant choice are, for once, the same choice.

Measurement, Not Marketing

We are building our own Scope 1 & 2 baseline rather than reciting our partners’ figures as if they were ours. When we publish a number under the 3verest name, it will be one we have measured and can be held to.

Built for your reporting obligations

Your cloud should make your carbon reporting easier, not harder

Healthcare buyers now carry their own duties, and the supplier you choose either helps you meet them or becomes another line you have to chase.

  • NHS suppliers on any framework must publish a board-approved Carbon Reduction Plan covering Scope 1, 2 and five Scope 3 categories, updated annually, committing to net zero by 2050 or sooner.
  • Australian entities are entering mandatory climate reporting under ASRS / AASB S2, which pushes Scope 3 questions straight down to suppliers — including their cloud.
  • Anyone reporting to the GHG Protocol needs their hosting emissions as a clean, defensible input, not a shrug.

We give you a site-specific Equinix Green Power Report, our hardware-sourcing position, and a written sustainability summary structured to drop straight into your own Carbon Reduction Plan or Scope 3 return. If your goal is your own ISO 14001 accreditation, our estate is built to support it.

High-density compute, handled honestly

The efficient answer to a heavier demand

Healthcare compute is getting heavier — larger studies, longer retention, and increasingly GPU-accelerated, AI-assisted reads. Dense infrastructure of this kind uses real energy, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest.

Our answer is consolidation and utilisation. High-density racks running near capacity in a professionally cooled, renewable-matched facility do more clinical work per kilowatt-hour than a cupboard of idle on-prem servers ever will. We would rather run one efficient estate hard than ten under-used ones softly — and we’d rather tell you that plainly than hide the compute behind a leaf.

Our roadmap, with dates

What we’ve committed to, and by when

We’re honest about where we are. We don’t yet hold our own ISO 14001, we don’t currently buy carbon offsets, and we don’t publish an independently audited annual report. Here is the plan to close that gap — with dates, so you can hold us to it.

Q4 2026

Publish our first Carbon Reduction Plan — board-approved, on this page, aligned to the NHS supplier format.

Q4 2026

Complete our first Scope 1 & 2 emissions baseline — measured, not estimated from partner figures.

2027

Begin ISO 14001 certification — environmental management under independent audit.

2028

Publish our first independently reviewed annual sustainability summary.

Under review

Carbon offsets — we will not buy them as a substitute for reduction. We will say here the day that position changes.
